Question

Selecting window size percent causes untintended clicks on assets or community

Hi all,

Starting with Captivate 9.02 while selecting window size percentage from the dropdown it is so easy to click assets or community menu items unintentionally,

Especially while selecting 50 %, 66 % and 75 % views you mostly end up with unintentional opening of assets or community window.

Are we the only guys experiencing this odd situation?

Regards.

Other Adobe softwares (i.e. PS, AE, etc) allow you to use Alt + mouse scroll in order to magnify the selected window. I use those other programs often enough that it actually throws me off when I'm back in Captivate and have to magnify another way.

Why do you not log a feature request? I applied it to have that feature, but as long as almost no one asks for it....

Will do! There are actually several functionalities of AE that could be beneficial within Captivate. While I'm at it, I'll also submit a request for a more "Illustrator-esque" shape maker, with anchor points.

A possible solution for you is to use shortcut keys to adjust the magnification.

The only shortcut keys that work consistently on all keyboards (I am using a Belgian AZERTY keyboard) are CTRL-+ (becomes CTRL= on my keyboard) and CTRL-. If you do not have a numeric keyboard and numbers need the SHIFT key, none of the number shrtcuts works? not even with SHIFT LOCK on.  Moreover in CP7, there was a very useful shortcut CTRL-5 to go to 50%. Like other work flows that could save time, that shortcut was lost with the change in UI.

Shortcut keys are great for maginfication if you have a US keyboard, nor a keyboard with a numeric keypad. On my Surface Pro they are useless.  Not sure if my memory is correct, but once whe could even use the mouse wheel (like in PS).

We all know that a clumsy user interface is hard to cope with in real production environment. In our case Assets and Comunity menu items could be moved to far right on the menu bar.  This can easily prevent user from unintentional clicks.

On the other hand customisable shortcuts at least for magnification percentages could be a great add on for systems with non-American keyboards and without numeric keypad. Hope this is not a suicidal job codewise.

Captivate is a great product. With minor tweaks it can be more effective. Btw long awated shift-drag is one of them.
