Spinning on uploaded HTML5 project

Well, everything's been going well for several days now, and today, 30 minutes before my client was supposed to review the project, it won't load in the browser. I'm not using SCORM, just a basic web server. It runs perfectly when run locally, but after uploading it just spins as soon as it's opened in the browser. Tried all major browser, tried a different internet connection, tried another PC, none can open it online.

Could an errant slide be causing it? Why would it work locally, but not online???

Find first the corrupt slide by hiding one by one. Perhaps the quickest way will be to recreate that slide, or you could try to find the corrupt object (or action).

The server has to support JSON. Have you checked this?

JSON supported. I've been testing this project on thee same server for weeks. Looks like it may be a bad slide. Trying to narrow it down now.

Exactly what I did, Lieve, and found the problem fairly quickly. It was the closed captions on one particular video. Deleted the video, re-imported and re-added the captions, and now it's working.

If the issue was in Closed Caption text then you may have inadvertently introduced some illegal characters to the caption text.

Do you routinely copy and paste CC text from a Word document or some other MS document (e.g. PPT) directly into Captivate?  If so, STOP doing that in future.  It can get you into trouble.  Paste ONLY plain text (e.g. from Notepad or some other similar plain text app).

Even when pasting plain text, watch out for any chevrons, ampersands and other similar characters that are commonly used in programming code.  They can also foul things up.

No, the CC for that video was copied from Notepad, and had been working fine for several days prior. Must have been something else about it that got corrupted.

Just hid all but the first 3 slides, and that worked. So, it's an errant slide.

If it's works locally can't see why ut won't work online. I guess you've tried In Adobe Edge Insprct under Preview to spot errors. Also, try GitHub to host your designs as a backup. Watch these twoshor vids on howto do it.

It's a great way to demo your course as a free backup option. I host dozens.
