Text box entry using a shortcut of "tab"

Captivate 5 and publishing SWF/HTML

I have a demo that was published in Captivate 3 (SWF/HTML)  two years ago and worked correctly. Now that I am updating the screens using Captivate 5 it will not work.

I have set up text entry boxes where I want the learner to enter in the field and then use their tab key to navigate to the next entry field. Just like they would do in the real system.

I have one text entry box per slide. The tab key is entered as the shortcut.

Upon preview or publishing, when entry is made in a text entry box and the tab key is pressed, the slides start advancing automatically. I am stopped from doing any more entry and all I can do is watch.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

It could be linked with converting from CP3 to 5, even with CP4 conversions there were some issues.

Is there a possibility to have access to (part of eventually) the file? You could post it on acrobat.com, share and publish and send me the link by private message.

If not possible: try to post screenshots of:

  • timeline of one of those sheets
  • properties panel of the Text Entry box: General, Action, Options and Timing accordion are important
  • properties panel of the slide itself

Here are screenshots of the properties panel of the text entry box and the slide as well as the timeline.

Hello,

I do see a pausing point for the TEB, and options seem OK, just wondering since you choose to 'validate' if you have the correct answers entered in the HUD that pops up on the slide?

The only thing that seems weird, but not sure that is is the cause, is the fact that no variable is associated with the Text Entry Box, which is normally always the case in CP5. Variables were introduced with CP4. Perhaps worth trying: you can use the X button next to the field for Variable associated and type in a variable (it will be defined by that action).
