Text Box padding

Is there a way to control both the left and right padding or margin in the text boxes for Captivate 3? When I am storyboard mode, the text is fine, but when it is published, the text is WAY to far to the right, bumping the text up to the right hand side of the text box. The text is left aligned.

Hi there rikster27

I'm guessing you are talking about Text Captions. Assuming I'm correct, they do have an associated file that controls their margins. But the trick to changing them is that you have to change them BEFORE using the caption type in Captivate. Once a caption type has been used, it is cached inside the project file and cannot be updated. So this will be a bit of hit and miss until you sort the margins to your satisfaction.

If you look in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3\Gallery\Captions

You should find all the caption images as well as the margins file. The margins file has the file extension of .FCM. This file may be edited using Windows Notepad. So you make the adjustments, THEN use the captions in a project to see how they look to you. I might suggest a blank project to experiment with. Adjust the margins, use the caption. Does it look appropriate? If not, trash the file and create a new one and repeat the process.

Cheers... Rick
