Tiny Shrunken PowerPoint Import?

I'm using Captivate 4 and PowerPoint 2007 and all of a sudden today whenever I try to either create a new project from a PowerPoint or import slides from a PowerPoint they all come in shrunken and tiny in the middle of the screen.  Doesn't matter what resolution the project is set for, and I've checked the page setup in PowerPoint and all of those settings are correct and haven't changed.

Has anyone ever seen a similar issue?  Know how to solve it?

There has been an updated fix for this issue. Please revisit the blog post and download the new version of Flash 10. I installed it over my old version and it fixed the shrunken slides.

Been on vacation and just received this email.  Now I am still confused.  I went to the website link below but did not see anything in reference to Captivate 4.  All had to do with Captivate 5 - which I do not have.  What exactly should I choose?  Do I select ‘Patch for Adobe Captivate 5 to resolve Upgrade Related Issues’?   I am not upgrading to 5 – but this will fix the problem in 4????

Hi there

I believe all you need to do is ensure you upgrade to the latest Flash Player/Plug In on your computer.

Small Microsoft PowerPoint & Adobe Flash Objects in Captivate 4 after Flash Player 10.1 Installation

After upgrading to Flash Player 10.1, you may notice that imported Powerpoint images and SWF animations appear smaller in the Edit area and Storyboard. The issue does not affect published content. This issue affects authoring space appearance of several Captivate objects, like the FMR animations, text animations, any third party animations and widgets.  We are investigating this issue.

At this point we are recommending the following work around. Un-install Flash Player 10.1 using "Start: Control Panel: Add or Remove Programs," restart your computer and then install the previous version of Flash Player - 10.0.45.2. Please follow the following steps:

1.     Go to Settings à Control Panel (On Windows XP)

2.     Open Add/Remove Programs dialog.

3.     Select Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and click ‘Remove’ button.

4.     Once the un-installation is complete, re-start your computer.

5.     Open your browser and go to this link - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html

6.     Under “Archived Versions” section, click on Flash Player 10 link and download the zip file containing all the Flash Player 10 exes.

7.     Extract the zip file and then select 10r45_2 folder.

8.     Inside this folder, double-click on flashplayer10r45_2_winax.exe to install Flash Player ActiveX.

If you have any difficulty with the preceding steps.

1.     If you are not able to install this version of Flash Player then follow the link http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html in your browser.

2.     Click on Windows: uninstall_flash_player.exe

3.     Save this uninstaller on your machine and run it to do a clean un-install.

4.     Try to run flashplayer10r45_2_winax.exe to install Flash Player ActiveX once again. (Beginning with Step 4 above.)

We are trying to go back to the previous version as indicated in this blog, but after we remove the new version and reinstall the old version, and then try to open Captivate, there is some sort of Flash player version check taking place. Since we do not have the latest version, Captivate 4 is no longer opening for us. We are all on Windows XP SP3, IE8, Captivate 4.0...

Anyone have any suggestions?

I am in the same situation and have been able to resolve.  Even saved ppt back to earlier MS version to see if that would make a difference.  No luck.

Hi there

This has nothing to do with PPT version. So it's no surprise that saving as a different version made any difference.

Please Re-Read this thread from start to finish. One post explains that you need to remove the Flash Player and install an older version. There are links that take you to relevant areas.

Once you perform the uninstall/reinstall hokey pokey the PPT should look normal again.

Older version from what?  I am on 10.1.  How old should the version be?

Allen, you say: " It only appears in the edit window in Captivate 4" This also affects the storyboard view on my computer.

So just as an update, my problem was a little different from most peoples.  When I published the slides were still tiny.  I reinstalled finally and that somewhat fixed the issue.  The problem is still there in edit mode, but now at least it is normal when published.

Thanks for all of the assistance though!

Hello,

How does it present after publishing: still shrunk or OK? Check this please, because it could be due to the installation of a CS5-app and there are several threads about it in this forum. But could you first check if the published file is OK?

I'm having the same problem using CP4 and PPT 2003. When I Create Project and select From MS PowerPoint, the slides import but end up as slightly oversized thumbnails. They do publish correctly, however. There are no CS-5 apps onboard. Comments?  Suggestions?
