Trademark symbol in transparent captions

New Here ,

When I use a transparent caption style and need a trademark symbol in the caption, it looks fine in the edit window but converts to a dot in the published file. Is there any work around for this? I've tried everything I can think of. Thanks for any help!

Hi Nancy_Parker

I'm wondering if you simply have your font configured small enough that when the TM symbol is anti-aliased, it looks like a dot. Assuming you are using Captivate 2, you might try fellow Community Expert Paul Dewhurst's technique he describes at this link.

Cheers... Rick

Rick,

Thanks for the response. I am currently using a font size of 18, so I don't believe that's the problem. I would hate to think I'd have to go bigger than that. If I use any other caption style, the TM looks fine. It's just in the transparent style that I run into this problem. I also tried Paul's suggestion with the highlight color, but I'm using Helvetica and instead of making it less fuzzy, it makes it too jagged. What a wacky world of font problems we live in.

What I've done is leave extra spaces when the trademark goes and strategically placed another transparent caption of the TM in a smaller font size in the correct spot. You have to preview (using Next 5 Slides and not just hit the space bar for watch it in the edit view) several times to make sure it's appearing in the right place. It works, but is a bit of a pain.

Thanks, again!
Nancy
