Trimming a video

New Here ,
Jun 23, 2016 Jun 23, 2016

Hi,

I added videos (mp4) to content slides and I tried to trim and edit them, but I see that my video only last 3 seconds. When I preview it, I have the full length of the video, but not in the timeline when I'm working on it. Is it because of the slide?

Thanks for your help,

Gabrielle

Hi there

Typically, the default duration of a Captivate slide is three seconds. Of course, you are free to change that if you want.

When you drop a video on a Captivate slide, it can be configured so that the slide the video is on doesn't move to the next slide until the video finishes playing. So if you dropped a video on a Captivate slide that was timed for three seconds and the video was timed to play for three minutes, that three second slide would actually take three minutes before it would then move to the next slide.

Cheers... Rick

To add to Rick's explanation: there are two ways to insert video. If you use event video, like you did, it has its own control panel and will play totally independent from the Captivate's interface. If you insert it as multi-slide video (can also on one slide), it will be controlled by Captivate and you'll need to extend the slide duration to the length of the video clip.
