Undo Object

I know it relates to one of these features: templates, master slide, new slide, blank slide, or CSS. Problem: All the slides of the project contain the same object (text caption) that are permanent (embedded), and can’t be removed or moved. How is this undone, as well as prevented in the future?

Hello,

Hope you are talking about Captivate 5 (because your mentioning Master slides)? It would be really easier if I could see or learn something more. At first sight I do see 2 possibilities (suspect it is not due to placeholders from a template):

  1. The object (Text Caption) is on a master slide that is applied to all the slides. Check this by opening the panel Master slides (Window menu) and check this. If the object is indeed there, just delete it.
  2. The object is on the first slide, and the timing is set to display for rest of project. Check the timeline of the first slide. Do you see any object that has this indication (see screenshot)? If yes, select it and in the Timing region of the Properties panel, change the timing.

You haven't really given enough information.  A screen capture of the unwanted object would be helpful.

Here are a few ideas to play with:

If this object appears on all slides in the project, and you are not using master slides, look for the first slide on which it appears, and search the layers for an object that is set to a duration of Resto of Project.  Watch out for the fact that the object might be hidden. Unhide all objects to find it.

If using Master Slides, do the same search on the master slide layers to try and find the object.

If you cannot find it elsewhere, was the object/s merged into the background and now part of the background graphic? (look to see that the objects still have a timeline layer dedicated to them).  Try right-clicking on the background and copying the background graphic out to a graphics editing program to see if you still see the undesired object.

Is the object merely locked or hidden on the timeline?  (look for the padlock symbol next to their name on the timeline layer.) You cannot edit locked objects.
