Question

video clips to play to present content

Hello - I am new to Captivate, so sorry if this is very elementary.

I would like to present the different departments in my company on one slide in the following way:

set of boxes laid out to represent the different department (preferably configured to show the flow of how each contributes to our product)

Clicking on each box displays a short video of someone briefly stating what the department does.

I can't find information about whether this is possible or not; and then I would like to know the best approach if it can be done.

Thanks!

You can create a multistate object, where each video is in one state. Label the states with the deparment names.

Turn the company indicators into buttons (you can fill a shape with an image, with text, and check the option 'Use as button'. For the success event of each button choose the command 'Change State of....' and indicate the wanted state. Be sure to uncheck the option 'Continue Playing Project'..

Hi there - I got it to do what you suggested, but now the problem is that the video persists. I need it to  close after it plays so that the user can see the remaining boxes and view the videos.

I have not yet tried to insert a 'done' button - I was hoping that there was a solution by using states, but I have not come up with anything yet.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You didn't tell that you would cover up the buttons with the video multistate object, I would never do that myself. Only event video is possible in a multistate object. Event video plays independently from Captivate, no way to control it with Captivate buttons.

Thanks again. Now that I know that I can figure out what to do next. I really appreciate it.
