I get this Video Demo Error Message: " cannot generate the recorded video clip. the recording is not substantial enough to generate a video"

I'm recording demos just fine, and then after a while I will get this error message. the only way to fix it is to restart my computer. Why is this happening? It's throwing off my work flow, and also I have to re-record demos that were perfect because they all connect to each other.

Using Captivate 9.

Thanks

Just an idea, never did see this error myself, nor (if my memory is correct) in this forum.

The working version of the Demo is stored in a Temp path, which you can check in Preferences, Recording, Video Demo. Can you check if there is enough space in that path?

Thanks for the suggestion!

I tried:

  • clearing the documents in the temp path
  • changing the temp path to a different location (shorter, local, definitely has space)
  • working locally
  • clearing the cache
  • closing and re-opening captivate

Nothing worked - the issue is still happening and the only thing that seems to work is re-starting my computer.

Do you have any other ideas?

Which version of 9? Last one is 9.0.1.320.

Are you on Windows? If yes, do you launch Captivate as 'Run as administrator'?

You could try to clean the Preferences as well: run the CleanPreferences file suited for your OS in the subfolder 'utils' under the installation folder.
