Videos wont play after publishing

New Here ,
May 08, 2012 May 08, 2012

I have imported several .flv videos into my project, and they all play well when I do a preview, but once I publish the project the videos just come up as a blank frame. The video files seemed to be automatically placed in the same folder as the swf, so I don't think that is the issue.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Hi Drakier,

Try a small test.  Create a new project with the same dimensions of your existing project. Copy and paste 2-3 slides from your project that contains the flv videos and then publish the project.

Observe that now are you able to play the project perfectly fine or not.

Also if it does not play in the test project then add the test swf in the Flash Trusted Location. After adding the test swf in the trusted location if it plays fine then try to add your existing swf in the trusted location

Hope it helps

I think your issue is either that the path to your video file is incorrect or you do not have the publish folder location set up as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings.

If Captivate is copying the video file into the same folder as the SWF that will call it, your path to that video file should just be the name of the video file. Nothing more.

For adding the publish folder to the trusted location please visit http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html and then add the location.
