Question

Web safe fonts in Cp4

How do the Flash player plugins on various browsers and OSes deal with rendering missing fonts?

For example, I'm thinking of using the Tahoma font in one of my courses. If a learner is using a Mac and doesn't have Tahoma but instead has the equivalent Geneva font, will their browser be smart enough to use that, or will they see my lovingly designed captions in Helv instead?

Thanks

    Thanks Rick.

    Doesn't really tell me how smart a mac would be at substituting similar fonts though. I think I might just go with it and see if anyone makes any noise

    Hello again

    javascript:;

    Can you post a screen capture of what you see when you view that page on a Mac?

    What was intended to be demonstrated was that even though the browser likely had no clue as to how to display that font it was probably rendered using a substitute, yet you saw the font perfectly when it was presented in the Captivate SWF.

    I believe this happens because the SWF presents the text as an image in the end. At least it does in Captivate 4. Admittedly, I'm unsure about whether this still holds true for Captivate 5. I know it handles fonts differently than 4 did.

    Cheers... Rick
