when importing a powerpoint to captivate, clicking still moves it forward.  I have nothing clickable in the presentation and my powerpoint file has clicking turned off.  It will play automatically as I want, but when I click during the swf it proceeds as though it were allowed to click.

Look carefully at the timeline in Captivate for each of these PPT slides.  Is there a click box object shown on the timeline (usually just before the end of the timeline)?

If so, that's been added when you imported your PPT.  Perhaps you did not select the correct import option regarding whether slides continued automatically or on user click.

I have this similar problem.  I've imported a PowerPoint Presentation in Captivate 8 (and also Captivate 6).  Chose the right option, I have a Click Box, but resize it so that only a specific area will be clickable.  But when you publish the project, clicking anywhere on the slide still advances to the next slide.

Is this a bug?

Hi all

I realize this thread is getting a bit long in the tooth. But it would seem that many Captivate users just blindly import from PowerPoint and pay little, if any, attention to the intermediate dialog that is in their face. So I feel it warrants at least a brief discussion here.

When you choose to create a new project based on PPT, you end up with a dialog similar to the one below:

tmp1.png

And notice the DEFAULT option that is configured (but you may change if you like).

I believe that many folks ignore that default option and just click OK. And if you do, Captivate will add a Click Box object on each and every slide. The Click Box will pause playback. And because it has been configured to be the same size as the slide, clicking anywhere on the slide will cause the slide to advance.

Cheers... Rick

Hi Rick... I think the issue here is NOT the "Click Box" that Captivate is adding automatically when importing PowerPoint slides.  The issue is when you import choosing the Advance Slide > On mouse click, removing the "Click Box" in the imported slides still let the users click anywhere on the slide and it advances to the next slide.

I have tested this several time both in Captivate 6 and Captivate 8.

Cheers.

Z

Agreed - same issue here. Has to be a bug.

Specs:

  • Using Cap 8.01
  • Advance Slide set to Automatically during import in Cap
  • No skin - our own nav buttons added to master slides

Using a PowerPoint 2013 PPTX file: (all slides marked to not advance slides)

  • If High Fidelity is checked, published slide will advance when clicked anywhere after 3 seconds, or when using my nav buttons
  • If High Fidelity is unchecked, published slide will only advance with my nav buttons

Using an older PowerPoint PPT file: (no HiFi option)

  • Published slide will only advance with my nav buttons
