Hi all

I am using Capivate 19, version 11.0.0.243

I have this error message appear when trying to open a captivate project from a shared office network.

The file is not open anywhere else

We are sure it is not damaged

We have enough space

It was saved multiple times

It has happened on more than one project. Can anyone advise if they have had this problem?

Thank you

You are using version 11, not 19. Confusion is due to the fact it is also referred to as CP2019.

You are still on the very first release of 11. Upgrade at least to 11.0.1.266, which was a bug patch. Meanwhile another upgrade has been released to 11.5. There are two different versions, one for Windows, one for Mac.

Make sure that Captivate is installed on your system, that the default paths are pointing to folders on your system (not on a networked drive).

Try the usual remedial actions: clear the cache (from Preferences). Then close Captivate and run the CleanPreferences... file which you find in the subfolder 'utils' under the installation folder. You need admin rights. If you are on Windows (you didn't mention the OS) make sure to run Captivate with the option 'Run as Administrator' as well.

If someone else has been working on that file, has that person closed the file properly?

Hi faaramin,

as some exports on this forum frequently point out, it is not a good idea, to open CPTX files and to work on them from a  shared network. Try to transfer your project file onto your local harddrive and see it that changes things.
