Hi All,
I'm having a problem with Captivate 6 that I've contacted Adobe for help with, but they've not been able to.
My issue is that I'm creating projects using Captivate 6 and publishing them. I need them to be available online and when the url is opened, I want them to pre-load a certain amount (say 20%) and then when that's pre-loaded, I want them to autoplay. I have had Captivate 4, and got this exact functionality, to my complete satisfaction.
I have two types of projects:
- ones originally created in Captivate 4 and then transferred into Captivate 6
- ones created from scratch in Captivate 6.
These are the Publish settings for Start and End that I'm using:
When I preview the project or have it locally it seems to work fine, but when it's published online I get the following problems:
1) Autoplay doesn't work
2) When I manually start the project, it plays the first slide and hangs on the second.
I usually have to rewind or refresh a couple of times to get it working.
Here's an example of what I'm seeing: http://gale.cengage.co.uk/product-training/techdemo.aspx
Can anyone help? Can people who have been successful adding published projects to websites give me a walkthrough of what they did?
Any help would be greatly appreciated (I'm at my wits end!)
Thanks,
Chris.

Try adding a blank slide of about 2 seconds duration at the beginning and then hiding the slide that has your company logo animation on it.
Does it still pause on the first play then?

Hello there,
There was a known issue related to pre-loader in Captivate 6 and was fixed in a patch. Can you please let me know which version of captivate do you have? Go to Help>About Captivate. Can you email me with these details to viswanat@adobe.com?
Thanks,
Vish

Hi Vish,
Many Thanks for this. The version of Captivate I'm on is 6.0.1.240
Best,
Chris.

Hi Rod,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've done exactly as you said, and the problem persisted. It loaded to 20% (the specified time) and then didn't autoplay, and when I played it, it hung after the first slide, and only worked when I refreshed.
Thanks,
Chris.

I would also be interested to know from Vish which versions of Captivate 6 had the issue with the preloader and whether the patch was for upgrade to version 6.01 or 6.1. If it is to 6.1 then ONLY those users with the Subscription Edition or similar would have the patch. Does this mean that users of Cp6 that are not on 6.1 will not be able to use preloaders?

Hello All,
If you have the preloader issue, please email captivatehelp@adobe.com, somebody will get in touch with you and share the hot fix with you.
Thanks,
Vish

Vish,
If there is a hotfix available for this issue, why on earth is it not posted up for everyone to download from an Adobe blog page? Why make everyone jump through hoops emailing Adobe to get it?
This makes no sense.

Rod, agree totally, sighing again.

Hello Rod,
We will be posting it in our blog soon once we validate it with few people. Thank you for your patience
Thanks,

OK. Understood. Then may I humbly suggest that you just tell people this up front rather than making it look like only those that email in to request a patch will be blessed with such a wish?
An announcement such as: "We are currently in the final stages of development for a patch to resolve this issue and will shortly be posting it from our official blog site for anyone that requires it." smacks of much better customer service than: "If you have this issue, please email us and somebody will share the hotfix with you."
The first announcement sounds like you recognise people are suffering and sincerely wish to get this issue resolved for everyone in the world. The second announcement sounds like Adobe knew about this issue, and had this patch up their sleeve for some time now, but for some strange reason didn't see the need to help anyone.
I know enough of the people in the Captivate development team to know they are genuinely nice chaps that DO care about their customers. But it just doesn't always come across that way...
