Breeze to Captivate

New Here ,
Nov 05, 2008 Nov 05, 2008
Hi,
I have a number of programs that were developed in Macromedia Breeze. I no longer have access to the Breeze software and need to update these programs. Is there some way that the Breeze PPC files can be imported into Captivate? Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks in advance!
Gary

Hi

Macromedia Breeze is solely a server function, not a development tool, so I fail to understand how your projects could have been developed in Breeze?

A PPC file is a plug in for Powerpoint which allows them to be converted to run on the Breeze server.

Here is an explanation of a PPC file:

When recording audio and slide synchronization, the Macromedia Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint creates a PPC file. The PPC file contains the audio and syncing information for the presentation. This file is automatically created and managed by the Macromedia Breeze Plug-in for PowerPoint. If the PPC file is deleted, or if the PowerPoint presentation is moved to another machine and the PPC file is not included, the audio and syncing will be lost for the presentation.

To answer your question, try downloading the whole project from the Breeze server, in there you may hopefully find the original Powerpoint file which is what you need to enable you to edit and re-publish to Breeze server.

Thanks for the reply and I am quite aware of what Breeze is having used it for four years. Perhaps I didn't word my question clearly so let me take another shot at this:

Several years ago I authored a number of courses using the Breeze plug in for PowerPoint. These were published to a server that no longer exists (you were able to publish either to Macromedia's server or your own). I do still have the PowerPoint files and the matching PPC files. My question is; can I do anything with these in Captivate or do I have to re-author these courses from scratch?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can be!

Gary

Gary,

You could purchase Adobe Presenter, which is the updated "Breeze plug-in for
PowerPoint". It's a standalone application that works in PowerPoint.

I actually don't know of PPC files can be imported into Captivate - but PPT
files can be. It depends on how many files and what type of content you are
developing, whether you should use Captivate standalone; Presenter
standalone; or both (or more tools).

Regards,

Andrew

I have a similar situation to Gary and wanted to see if there was anyway to take an existing Breeze Course and Import/Convert it to Captivate rather than having to rebuild it. I have approximately 50 Breeze 4 and Breeze 5 courses and want to understand if there is a way to make this happen. Based on the response i am seeing here the suggestion is to buy Presenter, but that seems to mimic some of the functions that are already in Captivate so I would rather not buy another tool. I can get it to import the PPT file fine but the associated PPC file that controls the other things (like audio) does not come in.

We are going through an update to our LMS from Docent to SumTotal and I cannot get the Breeze courses to play on SumTotal... They load and will track right but the individual slides will not play or build just stay stuck at 00:00

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chris
