Question

Can not install text to speech voices

I've downloaded the text to speech voices for Captivate 7 on Windows 7 (64). When I try to install them, the installer says that a reboot is pending. Well, that is not true, but even when I reboot and try the installation again, I still get the same message. If I click on Ignore, the installer continues and says it is successful. However, the voices don't get installed, and Captivate does not display the voices in the Speech Agent list in the Speech Management dialog box. The only voice displayed is Microsoft Anna.

I've tried to do the installation 6 times now, and it doesn't work.

Does anyone know a solution to install the voices?

    Hello Jay,

    Welcome to Adobe Forums.

Are you using Captivate 7 32bit or Captivate 7 64bit ? (Please check your Program Files & Program Files (x86) folder, which one has Adobe Captivate 7)

Do you see "Adobe Captivate 7 Voices" folder under Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder ?

    Thanks,

    Vikram

An Adobe support person called me this morning and fixed the problem. He had to uninstall and reinstall Captivate to fix a problem with the installation.

Good to hear that it was fixed.

I have Captivate 7 on my Mac, and speech installation worked fine.  I also needed to install it at my client's site on their PC.  Unfortunately the link inside Captivate went to an outdated web site, and the installation would never work.  We had to find the correct site to download the right version.  Maybe this what the Adobe support person did.

These installers usually have a two step process.  The first part is just to unpack the compressed files (usually to your desktop).  The second part requires you to execute the unpacked installer.

Did you do both parts of this install procedure?
