Question

Hand cursor not showing in published PDF

Hi,

I need to find a solution for the hand cursor not showing on buttons, hotspots, hyperlinks, etc. in a published PDF. The cursor works as expected (for the most part) in the published SWF file, but not when the SWF file is embedded in the PDF...

I tried to search for a solution but I think my search criteria is not worded correctly or something...this has to be a common encounter...which hopefully someone in this forum has resolved (finger's crossed of course).

Thanks for any help on this.

I think the issue isn't that the 'hand cursor' is not showing, but that what causes it to appear in a PDF, an internal hyperlink, isn't being created.

Okay, BDuckWorks...thanks; you've given me a reasonable explanation as to what is causing it or why it's happening...any insight on HOW  or IF I can get the hand cursor to work in the PDF?

Sure, I was interrupted before finishing the post...

Sorry about that, chief!

Here are two approaches:

1) I was able to find success by creating a SmartShape on a slide, setting "Use as Button" to true, setting the URL, leaving "Infinite Attempts" as checked, and finally setting "Hand Cursor" to true.

2) I was able to select text in a Text Caption, right click and select "Insert Hyperlink." This has very little options for managing the interaction, but will open a browser window with the indicated URL.

Note that these options didn't work when the PDF was loaded in a web browser, but worked fine when the PDF was opened in Acrobat, version 9 or later.
