How to track SWF scores with SCORM

New Here ,
Aug 03, 2011 Aug 03, 2011

We have a captivate project where we want to include some questions we've made in Flash.

We have successfully embedded these SWFs in our Captivate project.

In the Flash we have set Captivate's cpQuizInfoTotalQuizPoints variable to equal the score of our Flash quiz. This variable successfully writes to Captivate - we have proven this by reading the variable (after its written) back in Flash as well as in the Captivate project itself.

However, when we export our SCORM package the SCORM reporting doesn't show the result of our quiz.

So, it would seem we need to do something further to get our cpQuizInfoTotalQuizPoints variable to be included in the SCORM output.

Do we need to set another Captivate variable to get the SCORM to update with our cpQuizInfoTotalQuizPoints value? Or do we need to change a setting when we publish the project to get the cpQuizInfoTotalQuizPoints variable to be included in the SCORM output?

Any help here would be much appreciated. We have our project working the way we want, we just can't get this silly score into the LMS.

Thanks!

Chris.

Hi,

Hope someone with expert Flash-background can pop in, I'm a CP-user (after all this is a CP-forum). Will just propose that you check if this variable is populated in Captivate by inserting it into a Text Caption in Captivate, or by showing the score slide eventually.. If it is not, it will not be sent to the LMS.

Normally in CP cpQuizInfoTotalProjectPoints is read only, the way to get scores into it is either by question slides or by scoring interactive objects like a button, click box or Text Entry Box. Maybe you can do something with that information?

Thanks for your reply Lilybiri.

We've been playing a bit with variables and printing them out to the screen like you described.

At the moment we're looking at cpQuizInfoPointsscored which is read only.

But I think what we really need is to do is populate whatever variable CP sends out to the LMS as cmi.core.score.raw because I think that's what we really need to chase after.

A bit frustrating to be honest.
