Question

Slide with video won't go to the next slide automatically

Sorry to ask questions back to back but I'm having real trouble with the slides that have video content. I have the slide properties set to play the video for a certain amount of time, after which the slide should progress to the next slide - but it doesn't.

My settings for the video are set to "play for the rest of slide" - I don't know whether I'm doing this backwards.

Either the slide properties should be set for a specific amount of time (however long the video runs for) or the video properties should be set for a certain amount of time. After which, in either scenario it should go to the next slide WITHOUT having to use a "next" button..

Any answers?

Thanks!

Instead of setting the video for "rest of slide", have you tried just having it set for the time duration of the video. And ensure it isn't set to "pause" at any stage. Then ensure the properties for the slide are set to jump to next slide.

Look at all other objects on the slide and make sure none of them are set to pause the slide.

I'm not sure why you don't like the idea of a "next" button. You could have it set so it doesn't appear until the video is finished if you don't wan't people skipping the video.

    Anyway, hope something here helps.

    Cheers,

    Hi Kerry,

Thank you SO much! It was the Back button that had a "pause" set and I guess that was holding up the whole slide. I didn't realise "pause" being set on the buttons would affect the rest of the slide - but then, I didn't understand how to pause a button in the first place!

I just set the slide as suggested - video set to specific time, changed the slide properties to just "go to next slide" and it seems to work perfectly.

    Hi there

Coming in on this late. But I have some tidbits you may find useful.

I'm unsure of the video format you were using, but if it is FLV, note that the Options tab for FLV are set automatically so the slide is paused until the end of the video. This means if the video is 45 seconds long, you may freely insert it on a slide timed for 3 seconds. The slide will stay put until the video completes playing.

As you have already discovered, Buttons and Click Boxes will always pause any slide you insert them on until the user clicks.

    Cheers... Rick
