"Open Puppet Maker" is greyed out

This happens all to often in Adobe products: everything is hyper conditional. I'm trying to learn a new Adobe app and I search for tutorials online (or even use some tutorial provided by Adobe).  Then I start the tutorial, an option covered in the tutorial is GREYED OUT, and no explanation or contingency reference is offered.  

I've NEVER USED THIS SOFTWARE BEFORE.  WHY WOULD A BASIC FUNCTION BE GREYED OUT ALREADY?

Even if Adobe has a perfectly reasonable reason why this is the case: PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO OFFER GUIDENCE FOR THE PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE STARTING WITH A GREYED OUT MENU.  It's not an OUTLIER issue: stuff like this happens ALL THE TIME in Adobe products.  Please adjust your instructions accordingly.

It sounds like you are using the program in Starter mode. In Starter mode, you must use the pre-selected puppets and Puppet Maker is not an option. Look in the upper right corner to see if it says "Starter" and if so, click on it to select Pro mode. Pro mode is the paid version.
