Creative Cloud Sync Bug - trailing spaces in file names or folder names won't sync

If you have a trailing space in a file name such as "testfile.doc " Creative Cloud won't sync the file and doesn't tell you the error. If you remove the trailing space, it syncs fine.

It also won't sync file names that have certain special characters that work on the Mac, but CC won't sync them.

Core sync 6.5.3.1

CC app 5.9.1.376

Platform Mac

Please fix this bug.

And a question: what is CC built on? Windows? Linux? Mac?

Windows has file naming conventions that include not ending a file name with a space. This is not an Adobe bug.

"Do not end a file or directory name with a space or a period. Although the underlying file system may support such names, the Windows shell and user interface does not."

@daveslc

I'm on a Mac and have been for 33 years. In the old days, Windows used 8.3 filenames while we enjoyed long filenames with spaces and no extensions — unless we needed to share files with Windows. Filename rules have relaxed since then, but we still need to follow Windows conventions here if we want files to sync.

On the other side, Windows users were furious and vocal when Apple changed their API and took JPEGS out of the Save As dialog if the image did not meet all the conditions to be a JPEG. Windows users screamed, "It doesn't affect us!" We fielded hundeds and hundreds of complaints.

We can get angry or we can adapt. Adobe staff will see your request. The more folks who comment and upvote the more likely they are to realize there is a need. Right now there are zero upvotes (upper left), so be sure to add yours.

Your comments are not helpful at all. Adapting to a poorly designed 'feature' is not really adapting, it's tolerating it.
If Adobe doesn't allow trailing spaces fine, but their sync tool needs an explanation when it fails.
It's a bug.
