The name of my external SSD drive, connected to my 2020 MacMini through a hub, was modified with an extension of "1" at the end. Its only noticeable because my cloud backup service (backblaze) doesn't recognize the drive anymore.
I worked with Senior support at Apple and they cannot solve it over the phone but in working with them I narrowed down that this change, including permissions, happened after I newly installed Adobe Cloud and my favorite programs. I have tried to rename it back to the original name without the extension but it will not rename, even after removing the "Admin" permission that Adobe Cloud modified when I clicked "Allow."
How do I get rid of this extension?

did you use the cc desktop app to do anything with that drive?

All I remember is getting a notification window asking for Adobe to use that drive and clicking "Allow."

is that your os drive?

No it is a drive dedicated to all my data files like Adobe, Word, images etc.

adobe wouldn't use that drive unless you directed the cc desktop app to use it.
did you change the cc desktop app preferences to use that drive to install your cc desktop apps (not the data files, the apps themselves)?

No I did not tell Adobe to install apps on the DATA drive, I use the OS drive for all apps and the data drive for all data that I can. Occasionally software uses the OS drive for its storage and when I can catch it i redirect all file saving to the external drive.

I wonder if the Adobe Libraries are syncing to that data drive and that is what is preventing me from removing the extension "1" on the name?

you could test by pausing syncing and signing out of the cc desktop app and then try renaming.
but i have the same set-up and my drive name wasn't changed.

Thank you for sharing that your drive is unchanged. I am presuming it was Adobe Cloud but am not certain. Something added an "Admin" role and changed the read/write permissions of other roles in the Disk Utility properties.

you should be able to test by shutting down suspected apps and then trying to rename. or just leave it if everything is working.
