Can't seem to get auto-update to work

Explorer ,
Sep 12, 2025 Sep 12, 2025

I've gone into my settings and turned on auto-update.  I've set both of the check boxes for applications to be checked, but still it doesn't auto-update.  Instead, while I use Photoshop Beta, I get messages telling me that there's a newer version I can download when I close the app.  I've ended up adding CC to my start up so that, when I boot, I'm at least told what apps need updating and I can bang that out before opening them.  But I just want things to autoupdate when I'm not using them.  What could I be missing here?  Working on Win11 Home and not SUPER techy, so be gentle with your techy responses.  🙂

This has nothing to do with Collaboration, but it wouldn't let me post unless I picked one of four topics that this has nothing to do with any of them.  lol.  If I'm posting this in the wrong place, please advise on that as well but this sounded like the best fit.

Most of us regulars on the forums don't even pay attention to the "topics."

This might be better suited for the CC Desktop forum.

Would you like it moved there?

yes, if you know how to move it to the best place, that would be great.

Try resetting the CC App.
To reset the Creative Cloud desktop app, make sure it's in the foreground, then press:
Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the CC App:

Hi Bob!  I don't know what you mean by the term "reset" the creative cloud app.  What are the implications of that?  I count on my Photoshop very much and the idea that i might mess something up is intimidating....especially uninstalling and reinstalling anything that could affect Photoshop or Acrobat, the two things I use most.

there's no downside.

Okay, I just did that.  I wouldn't think that would be any different than every time I reboot the computer and re-open CC Desktop, though, but maybe Ctrl + Alt + R does something different than just opening it.  I won't know if it did anything until the next time I open Photoshop Beta and see that there's a new version...or I never see that again so it worked.  Time will tell, thanks.

if the previous suggestions fail, it may be your side that's blocking updates.
