Adobe Digital Editions 4.5.8 crashing

Why is Adobe Digital Editions crashing whenever I connect my Nook Simple Touch ereader?  I am unable to transfer Library books to my Nook because of this issue or move borrowed books from my Nook.

Has you try a older version of digital Edition?

I found that I had to change the way I transferred.  Instead of opening the Nook, I had to drag and drop after the Nook was plugged in and showing on ADE.  Then to delete the books from the Nook after returning from ADE, I had to actually delete the on the Nook itself.  Everything is fine now. It was not necessary to change to an older version of ADE to solve my problem.
