I'm having this issue with a book purchased from Google Play Books on Oct 3rd.  Google has told me to get in touch with Adobe and their chat bot pointed me to this thread.  😞

You won't be able to download the ebook from .ascm files exported from books purchased between about 9/15-10/16. There are alternative ways to make those files work (read upwards in the thread for Calibre instructions) but to get it to work straight from google play to adobe digital editions you have to refund the book, repurchase it, and re-export the .acsm file.

Thanks.  That suggestion worked for me.  Given that there is a workaround, this strongly suggests to me that this is an ADE issue.

I don't think the "purchased between 9/15-10/16 and your books are doomed" info is 100% accurately.

Currently I got 5 books with E_ADEPT_CORE_KEY_SCRAMBLE error (Based on my transcation data on Google Payment, those books bought at 2024/05/16, 2024/05/23, 2024/07/18, 2024/07/21, 2024/08/14), and 1 book with E_GOOGLE_DEVICE_LIMIT_REACHED error (bought at 2024/09/30)

BUT, I also have numbers of other books bought between May 2024 and October 2024 that, export fine right now (about 20 books).

Thanks to all those who persisted in trying to get the problem fixed and thanks for letting other page readers know it is now resolved...though not retroactively, for those who did not receive refunds (and who cannot use Google Play's ereader to read those problematic purchases.)

I just bought a 99 cent ebook from a favourite author listed in my Bookbub email and I was able to download the book in Adobe Digital Editions.

 Does it come out well as an e-pub after updating Calibre this time? I came out well before that, but after updating, I can't dedrm, T T, I changed the version to the new version of 10.0.9, why can't I? Is there anyone who can help you?

Unless you are trying to redeem a title for which you could not get a
refund from Google, the problem is fixed now and new purchases should
download to Adobe Digital Editions normally.
