Adobe Digital Editions SUCKS! It is so bloody slow AND it keeps crashing my computer. I am forced to use it for academic reading but it scrolls slower than I can read. I would much rather read something as a PDF.

This is quite frustrating, as there is still no viable solution for these problems. I am also experiencing lag in scrolling through adobe digitals.

I'm a mac user.
I found a quite alternative fix to the slow scrolling. Instead of actual scrolling I first zoom in on my screen (by holding the Control key while scrolling with my mouse/trackpad). The I use the mouse arrow to navigate the screen. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it works alright compared to the extremely annoying slow scrolling. Check out the attached video for better understanding.

It's a workaround, but if you have an iPad try it on an iPad. It's been working so far. Not sure about other tablets though. Not a solution but nothing reliable seems to work.

I have the exact same problem. This is literally unacceptable. This program obstructs any kind of serious work, instead of facilitating it. I am a professional working with texts. This piece of software makes my work IMPOSSIBLE.

Since Adobe doesnt seem to care, here's the work around.
1. Get the book as usual into the Adobe Digital Edition format
2. Download isummersoft ACSM converter. This is by far the easiest ebook to pdf converter I tried. They give you 3 free books to convert before you purchase.
3. Your ADE book will already be populated on the left hand menu, choose your output folder at the bottom, and what format you want to convert to (I chose pdf).
4. Hit "convert to pdf" or epub or whatever format you want, and its done. Read and share at your pleasure.
5. I am not advocating this method, just telling you of something that can theoretically be done.

JUST CHANGE YOUR ZOOM SETTINGS UR WELCOME
After trying a bunch of stuff on my Mac, I found the easiest way to deal with this frustration is to just enable your zoom settings on your computer while on fit page mode! Here’s how if you need help:
- In adobe digital editions do not use continuous scroll, instead use the automatic setting of "fit page"
- enable your computer's zoom settings, Mac (Settings>Accessibility>Zoom)
- turn on ALL the switches ("use keyboard short cuts to zoom", "use trackpad gesture to zoom", "hover text")
- open the advanced button to make sure "when pointer reaches edge" is chosen under "zoom image moves"
🙂 Now when you open your book you can use the Keyboard shortcut it has listed in the zoom settings or double tap with three fingers and your screen will zoom in so you can see the text (do the same to undo it). Just drag your cursor at the edge of your screen to move your zoomed self around and your keyboard's arrows to change the page.

It's simply the worst reading app I have ever used! If Adobe refuses to fix this fundamental function of the app, it speaks volume about Adobe's integrity as a company. Simply awful!

I uninstalled it after looking for some kind of workaround. If anyone I meet mentions problems with ADE, I have only bad things to say about it. I would never recommend it to anyone.
