Hi all.
I'm a film student who has just finished university and unfortunately I now cannot afford the Adobe package as £600 a year isn't feasible, however I need Adobe to create material to advertise my skill. I can't get the student package now as I have graduated and despite still having an AC.uk email, I don't have the evidence to say I'm still at uni for a year licence.
I'm looking at buying an old CS5/5.5/CS6 CS Premium disk for now. I know they're very old, however I can't afford the subscription. I have a few questions:
- If I buy a used one off eBay, will it still work if used?
- Are CS5/5.5/6 still redeemable? Have the activation been deleted?
- If I purchase a student and teacher one, can I use my university email to activate it? Will it expire?
Is there anything else I need to know? I'm on windows 10.
Thanks!

RE: CS5/5.5/CS6 CS Premium disk

it almost certainly won't be a legal license transfer per, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/transfer-product-license.html, but it may work IF the owner has a legal license AND you have a computer with a compatible os and there is, at least, one activation remaining.

yes, you can still activate cs5, cs5.5 and cs6 (but nothing prior to cs5)
- If I purchase a student and teacher one, can I use my university email to activate it? Will it expire?
if you need anything from adobe, it will fail. ie, whatever you buy will not be supported by adobe.
Is there anything else I need to know? I'm on windows 10
the previous owner has to deactivate it from all prior installations/activations for you to have any hope of success. ie, this, plus, the failure to obtain a license transfer makes it an unwise purchase.

Hi Kglad,
Thank you for your response! Unfortunately I can't see the link as I don't have access and it's says forbidden.
For instance, if I am able to download let's say Photoshop, will that version work but of course there will be no upgrades or nothing to buy as it's outdated.
What is considered a legal transfer?
Is there a specific Windows OS/Version for 5/5.5/6?
Thank you.

Thank you! In order for it to be legal, if I purchased it new would it then be a legal transfer as it would be a new activation?

if you were purchasing from adobe (which is impossible), yes. otherwise (as in your situation), no.
again:
and, to further clarify: if the current owner assures you the product is new in a box that has never been opened and has never been used and never been activated, you still need a license transfer.
further, only someone who purchased directly from adobe (eg, even 3rd party purchases from years ago are suspect) OR someone who has an adobe license transfer agreement can be sure of a legal license.

You could get a month-to-month plan and cancel after a month or two.

@Hannah31633233v0xs - if you cannot afford it which is not uncommon, then I would suggest learning to get scrappy. For instance, instead of needing the entire suite, you could just buy individual apps such as if you just needed photoshop/lightroom you can get that for less than half the price.
Alternatively, you can look for programs that maybe less expensive to start out such as replacing indesign with a canva subscription, photoshop with gimp or pixelmator, dreamweaver with nova, fireworks with figma, premiere with iMovie, etc. And I'm purposely leaving out Flash as those versions are completely irrelevant today. I'm not saying these have all the options, or that you won't have a learning curve, but doing something like this can help you showcase your talent for a lower cost and let you build a portfolio to afford the better tools, or another job to work to help pay for your end goal. The point is you don't need to buy the most expensive tool today, but have that vision and let it drive you to where you want to be tomorrow.
