@Mr.PartyHut

reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:

Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

if that fails, repair per https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-install-stuck.html

if that fails, uninstall using the correct uninstaller from https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-messaging and then reinstall using*

if that fails, do a clean cc install carefully following each applicable step

Type this into your terminal app:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

Then try the install of the latest version of Photoshop again. Obviously your Mac hasn't yet downloaded Rosetta 2, and something in the Photoshop installer requires it.

Adobe: You NEED to go through your installer processes and check which items are still non-universal codebase.

Yes! Thank you @scottiericho ! This solved my problem with the error code 183. I have a Macbook Pro with the M2 processor. Strange that there was no notification that you needed Rosetta. How difficult would that be (especilly when Adobe has to know that they have components in Photoshop that needs Rosetta). Slopy.

@Trey Piepmeier

did you install rosetta 2?

 among the ways to do this is to start Photoshop with the Intel version*.  here are two other ways, How to Install Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon Macs (osxdaily.com)

that's been the solution to a recent surge in mac problems (with new apple silicon macs) caused by premiere pro (and after effects) installs resulting in exit code 183.

there are also the older problems and fixes, https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/fix-error-183.html,

but you should try the rosetta 2 install first, because its absence is most likely the cause of your problem.

*Go to Applications > Photoshop > Open the Photoshop Folder > Click the Photoshop Application within the Photoshop folder
Then hold Control > Get Info > Check the box for Open with Rosetta

No, I don't intend to install Rosetta. I'll wait until Adobe makes this all Apple silicon compaitible for real. It surprising that even Lightroom Classic doesn't have this problem.

in relation to error 183 for mac m2's, another user said v24.3 was released.

note: adobe rolls out updates in waves so you may not see this update, yet.
