Cannot install Photoshop Elements 10.
I had the trial of Photoshop Elements 10, but uninstalled it a few days before trying this install.
I’m trying to install Photoshop Elements 10 but when I run setup it wants to uninstall it first and it fails to do that, stopping with “Error 1402 – Could not open key”. It then rolls back the install and ends. I purchased the boxed bundled version of Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10. How can I get it to install without trying to uninstall first, as it is not really installed anymore?

Did you uninstall on a Windows or Mac OS? If on Mac, did you uninstall by dragging to the trash bin?

I have Windows Pro 64-bit.
I have gotten past the problem of it wanting to uninstall first. The install proceeds as it should until it is almost done then I get an error and it rolls back. The error is:
Error 1402 could not open key. UNKNOWN\components\da42bc89bf25f5bd0af18c3b9b1a1ee8\9fa945eeaaf84854382bce1fcbd91cff

ConradLJohnson this error indicates a problem with the installer being able to write to your registry. I would recommend trying the steps applicable to your operating system in Error 1401, 1402, 1404, or 1406 | Install | CS4, CS5 | Windows. Please feel free to respond to this thread if you have any questions about the steps listed within the document.
