Completely removing CS4 in Mac 10.13.4

Apparently CS4 legacy software is slowing my laptop down. I have CS6 so I have no need for CS4, but having trouble completely removing it from my computer. I have a MacBook Pro 10.13.4. Searching for "CS4" in finder, I removed and uninstalled everything I could find, but still am getting an error message upon start up that CS4ServiceManager needs me to download legacy java software. Searching in terminal for any files on my computer with "CS4" I see plenty still on my computer, but when I try to remove them in terminal, it tells me they don't exist.

Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Apple was unable to help me.

I finally gave up on the Adobe solutions. My work around was to login as root, delete the applications from the applications file. The second steps were to remove all the system libraries that contained “CS4”. There were doze of files. be very careful. That finally solved the errors and the renegade daemons running in the system consuming overhead.

I hope that helps.

Emilyd99116341, the normal process for removing Adobe applications is by using the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers/.   Did you run the Creative Suite 4 uninstaller from this location before you removed files?

Ok, Emilyd99116341, then the only remaining steps would be to download and run the CC Cleaner Tool from Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems .

Since in your original post you stated that you had already manually removed files I am unsure if the CC Cleaner Tool or the uninstallers will be effective.  You could try reinstalling Creative Suite 4 but it may be a better idea to reinstall macOS 10.13.4 and only restore your documents and settings instead.  This would help ensure that you only have applications installed that were designed to work on the current version of macOS.

If you do need to reinstall any version of Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 or later then see Installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra) for details regarding the necessary workaround to invoke the installer.

... Oh and did they mention that you should enable the root system superuser and execute the CC cleaner in a sudu command to edit the xml code to enable you to delete troublesome files.

And don't forget the edit from root  "The XML file lists all CS5 to CS5.5 products in a </CS5> tag." the unix vi edit might help.  I'm not sure if there is a related plist command flag that needs to be changed.

... Simple,  much like editing the genes in your brain neurons while trying to understand an adobe manual. What could possibly go wrong.  Good luck!
