Cannot update Creative Cloud desktop application. Says I need administrator privileges. Tried running as administrator, then updating. After running for an hour, installation failed and gave me the same message. What do I do? I just got a new computer, running Windows 8, and am installing my programs. Not all programs are installed, yet there's already an update to Creative Cloud, and I can't even access the programs I still need to install. I'm stuck. Please help!

‌I use "Clean My Mac" and uninstalled using that. It gets rid of EVERYTHING properly so you can reinstall with a clean slate. Did you try something like that?

I am having a similar issue, Trying with Photoshop and Lightroom the programs get to about 42% and stalls in the update process. Its very time consuming as you can not run any programs during the update. What is the solution?

‌iInstalled the latest update on Friday - Well I thought I had! Computer wouldn't restart and have spent the next 3 days on the phone to apple. Have now had to wipe hard drive and reinstall everything ! Apple are pretty certain it's a software corruption from the update. Absolutely furious and will send Adobe the bill for my time and loss of sanity!
Adobe appear to be pretty gung-ho and not carefull enough when introducing these updates. Readers be ware always wait at least 2 or 3 weeks after an update is released and let other do the testing!

Updated Photoshop and After Effects to 2015. They installed, but immediately says there is an update. Try to update (RAW 9.1 related ?) > "Installation succeded, but a patch failed - the download appears corrupted. Please try to download again (U43M1D204) " Also, just downloaded Bridge, same exact problem.
I clicked the "Get help" link in the error box, followed the rabbit hole to Error downloading or updating Adobe Creative Cloud apps, where it details the error "The download is corrupted. Click Cancel, wait a few minutes, and try again. There is a file size mismatch between size specified in manifest and actual file." This has not helped for 3 days. Under the error code there is a note:
If you have prerelease versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite apps on your computer, they could be causing a conflict with new installations. The Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) Cleaner Tool removes prerelease installation records. See Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems.
Tried all the steps on the CC Cleaner Tool page, down to completely removing ALL CC programs, including the CC (installer/manager) program itself. Clean Download/Install Photoshop 2015, same U43M1D204 error.
By navigating DIRECLTY to the CC programs, they (seem to) run fine (patched or not ?) But WHY does CC (manager) insist there are updates? And then when they fail, not allow to run from within CC ? (After a restart, if you don't try to update, they will run from within.)

Two years and still no fix???? Every time there is a Creative Cloud update I need to force close all Adobe apps. The big one is AdobeUpdateService which needs to be "stopped". Then I need to run Adobe Creative Cloud under administrator which I already am. Please fix this annoying bug. All my other applications have no issue updating on their own and seeing how I'm not the only one with issues this should be something that should be fixed.

I'm running a mac at home and a PC at my office. No problems thus far on the PC (thankfully), but I've
had this issue constantly on the mac. Uninstall / reinstall works, but it's NOT a fix, it's a pain in the ass!

I have the exact same problem as r29123728 I have a Mac, when I click on the update button simply nothing happens.
Reading through this discussion above I guess my best chance is to uninstall and re-install everything again...?

I was having that issue as well - Creative Cloud desktop app would launch, and display a bunch of applications that had updates available...but clicking on "Update All" or the individual update buttons did nothing.
Just managed to restart the updates by doing the following: (Mac users...)
1. Make sure you've got the latest Creative Cloud app installed - click the gear icon, then click preferences, click on the version # and it'll tell you what version you're running.
2. If you need to, quit creative cloud, then download and install the latest version.
3. Delete the contents of the OOBE folder and relaunch the CC Desktop app --> Solution #5 as listed here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-app-doesnt-open.html#5
Restart, and sign back into the Creative Cloud desktop app. That worked for me.

I'm having the same issue. The updater is not downloading properly. Just sits on "Installing Update". Sometimes never gets past 2% other times further then freezes. I'm using a fast internet connection. How big is this update??? Surely it is not that large as it's merely an app to keep track of updates and account details.
This issue is not new - I've consistently had this problem with Adobe's updater application. We can see from the age of this thread how old this problem is. Why isn't the process more streamlined or easier? Why isn't there at least an alternative way to download the updater?
This is very poor service from a commercial, costly service. I am unable to access my Adobe products as they have been disabled due to my membership lapsing - I have now updated the membership but cannot use the products.
I'd like an answer from Adobe asap.

This is just unbelievable that Adobe would leave this issue unfixed for years. I've always been an Adobe snob, but I might have to start shopping for something new... dare I say it... anyone still use Corel? Seriously though, this is bad. Having to force quit and restart this often when Apple has finally given us some stable OS is just horrible. Thumbs down Adobe.

If you're still running into an issue, then there are ways around it.

Okay, this is what I did and so far it works perfectly...I was really getting tired of this so I went in to uninstall the App and it stopped me from doing so with this...'Before uninstalling why not try to do a 'fix''?? So that's what I did and it took about 15 mins and low and behold I now have all my programs updated and working correctly. Paul.
