Hi, I currently have CS5 running on my Mac Book Pro and this laptop has crashed (2009). I am planning on purchasing new Mac Book Pro in a couple of days.
I do not have disc or serial number from original. Any advice on how to move it to new laptop? Is this possible?

If you registered your software, you can go onto your adobe.com account and get the serial number. It should also be there if you bought it directly from Adobe. Once you have the serial number, you can download the software and activate it with the number.
It's good to keep in mind for the future that when you purchase software, you are buying a license to use it.
What you are really paying for is that serial number (it verifies your license) - so be sure to safeguard those numbers.
On the other hand, if you subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud, there are no serial numbers - All the software still resides on you computer, but you just have to log in with your Adobe ID to use the software.

CS6 and earlier programs have not been tested and will not be updated for Mac El Capitan/Sierra
-which means that you try to use CS6 and earlier at YOUR risk of having problems due to Apple updates
-Apple did not maintain backward compatibility with old programs in El Capitan or Sierra
