Does anybody happen to know if the Adobe Master Collection CS6 upgrade licence requires the previous version of Master Collection, CS5, to remain on the machine after the CS6 upgrade has been installed?

No, it does not... and unless you have an install problem all you need is your CS5 serial number when installing your CS6 upgrade version

you don't need cs5 to be installed even when installing and activating that cs6 upgrade version.
to activate your cs6, you just the serial number of cs6 and cs5. when starting the cs6 installation, you will be prompted for your cs6 serial number. the installer will check and find that's an upgrade serial number and then it will search your computer for an activate cs5. failing to find that, you will be prompted for that cs5 serial number.
enter the correct number at the correct time and installation and activation will proceed.
bottomline: if cs5 is installed, you can uninstall it but secure both cs5 and cs6 serial numbers before uninstalling.
p.s. have you recently activated your cs6 (so it's no longer on the 30 day trial)?

Many thanks for your postings.
The reason I asked about this was becaue, after I installed a CS6 Master Collection upgrade, I removed CS5 from the machine - and, after that, I started getting messages from Adobe stating that I was using unlicensed software.
I then reinstalled CS5 (retaining the CS6 upgrade as well) and the warning messages stopped.
So, I wondered if the CS6 upgrade periodically checked for the original licence, or somesuch.

did you deactivate cs5 when you uninstalled it?

Good question!
My recollection is that I just used Windows 10...Settings...Apps...Uninstall which I don't think involvd any specific deactivation.

then it's a mystery to me why it needs to be on your computer.
the cs5 licensing info needs to be on your computer, but uninstalling cs5, i didn't think, would remove that licensing info.
