Windows 7 has something called "XP mode" which, if your hardware supports hyperthreading, will allow you to run a virtual Machine version of Windows XP within W7 and then install the software as if it were being installed on Windows XP.  Have you tried that route?  Are you getting any error messages when you try to install to Windows 7 the regular way?
