I purchased photoshop elements 13 without realizing it needs a dvd drive to be installed. I have a cd drive. What can I do?

Try inserting the disc into the CD drive and see what happens.
You may find that your CD drive is really a DVD drive too.
If you still have trouble, download the trial version of the software from Adobe's website, install then enter your serial number found inside the box.

Unfortunately, my cd drive is a cd drive. There is no option for dvd.
I just downloaded the trial version & installed. There was no place to enter the serial number. I spent an hour searching, all the way up to where it wanted me to purchase.
I still need help, since product is not returnable. Thanks.

How old is your computer? All modern computers have DVD/CD combo drives.

Did you see these screens when you installed?
Click Install

Hi John,
My laptop computer is 2 years old. I has only a CD. No DVD. DVD's do not fit in the CD drive.
No, I did not see those screens you mentioned. I clicked on "trial". I saw no option to setup an already purchased product.

It is just above the trial advice.
See John,s advice.

Perhaps I was on a different page for trials? Do you have a link to the page I need? I've searched for hours & cannot find it. Thanks,

My laptop computer is 2 years old, but definitely has no DVD drive - only a CD. DVDs do not fit.
I did not see the screen you sent screen shot of. Only one that let me click button to download free trial. Is it possible you could send a link to that screen?

Must confess, I've never seen a 2 year old laptop without a DVD drive. If you look at the markings on the front of the DVD (or CD) drawer, does it say DVD?
DVDs and CDs both fit into CD and DVD drives. They're physically the same size. Or so close that there's no practical physical difference.
I'd love to take a look for myself (could you take a photo of it and post here?) but if you're adamant it's CD only then we'll leave it at that.

That screenshot was from the first screen of the trial version.
I downloaded it yesterday from http://www.adobe.com/go/tryphotoshop_elements to see for myself which screens you should be seeing (so as not to confuse things further).
