It's much more likely to be a mistake on Adobe's part, than a conspiracy. But certainly, genuine licences are being flagged as non-genuine, as can be seen from the screenshots in this thread.
I too have a genuine Adobe product, and now am getting these messages.
To conclude this thread, Jeff has confirmed that my software serial number was indeed valid; though the reason for it being flagged remains a mystery.
However, a re-install onto an older, more compatible OS, seems to have resolved the issue, with no more annoying alerts.

Where did you buy your copy from Ben?

My serial number was supplied to me directly by Adobe, and registered to my AdobeID through the academic eligibility scheme. Still think they gave me a knock-off copy?
In any case, this is the final nail for CS6: 32-bit, non-Retina, Carbon, Java 6, etc, etc. Time to move on.

Branching to a new discussion.
Benwiggy, I am sorry you are receiving messages that your serial number is invalid. Are you using your registered serial number when installing Creative Suite 6? Which operating system are you installing CS6 on and why? For information on how to locate your registered serial number see http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html .
If you are using your registered serial number then can you please send me a private message with the serial number you have been entering. You can view my response in the public discussion thread and mouse over my name to send a private message.
