installer failed to initialize

Community Beginner ,

I purchased the Lightroom 6 Upgrade and downloaded it.

Everything proceeded satisfactory through the download and extracting the files. When I launched the installer, it failed. A dialog box came up and told me that there was an impending reboot and that I should quit, reboot, and try installing again. I did that. This time the installer just failed and told me to download Adobe Support Advisor. The link took me to a page that told me that the Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued.

After two more reboots and installation failure for the same reason, I deleted the download, rebooted, and downloaded the file again.

This time everything proceeded satisfactory through the download and extracting the files. Now, the dialog box states that the installer failed to initialize, and the only option is to quit.

I am running Windows 8.1.

Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide.

It seems that I did not search the forums adequately. The answer was available.

Here is what I did:

  1. Uninstalled Lightroom 5
  2. Rebooted
  3. Downloaded Adobe CC Cleaner Tool
  4. Cleaned All
  5. Ran the Installer (if you, like I did, downloaded this version as well as the previous version, make sure you have both serial numbers ready)

Lightroom 6 works. I can now process my Nikon D5500 nefs.

I only wish the annoyware dialog box asking me to turn-on Lightroom Everywhere. I DO NOT WANT IT. OK. I guess I will have to find
