Installing Purchased Lightroom 5 Impossible with Present Mac Setup. SuperDrive Does’nt Work on Mac

Just bought a copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom but the SuperDrive on my Mac does’nt work. It has’nt for a few years. Have another USB SuperDrive I was hoping would work but my Mac won’t recognize it. Is there any way of downloading a trial version and entering there serial number from the box into the downloaded version

Download, install then enter your serial number to license it.

That did’nt work. Can I paste all the number in at once or do they have to be typed in manually?

If you are typing it in from the box what are you pasting?

No I keep getting “The serial number you entered is invalid”, etc, etc. Will try with Elements once I try to install it and see if throws the same message.

That would suggest its not a procedural problem but one with the number itself.

No it did’nt. I did manage to register Lightroom with Adobe but still not sure if the app is registered on the Mac or not. In the process of trying to reinstall but that is turning into a wait and see procedure with Adobe. Might have to reboot and see what happens. Really wish they had kept it with the “kiss” principle instead of making it over complicated to install software.  A simple .dmg would suffice.

Installation after download shouldn't take more than ten minutes. The phone number will help to determine if the serial number is valid. Where did you purchase it from?

Did’nt see a phone number at all, either for Canada or US.

Got it fixed through Chat. Had to delete a Cookie file in   /library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom and relaunch the app and use the second setting on the window on the left hand side to re enter the serial number.
