Old Software Licensing

I have two versions of very old Adobe video editing software (one with Premiere Pro, After Effects 6.0, etc., and then an upgrade with PP 2.0, AE 7.0, etc.)  I'm trying to install my upgraded version, but whenever I put in the original serial numbers, it tells me that the serial numbers don't qualify for the upgrade (even though it has been working for years.)  I've been seeing posts about Adobe cancelling serial numbers, and am curious if this is that same situation.  So do we just need to eat the hundreds of dollars spent on these software packages?  Or maybe something else is wrong?

For the upgrade version, enter the serial number of upgrade version you want to install, then enter the serial number of old version.
However, older applications are not guaranteed to work properly on the current OS.
Since the program also recognizes the serial number, it may not always work properly with the new OS.

CS1, CS2 and CS3 are dead. The activation servers were removed from service several years ago. Even if you find an installer, it's impossible to activate the software.

CS4, CS5 and CS6 are on life support. They can still be activated providing you have the following:
1. original media (disks or downloads) you received at purchase and a way to read them,
2. a legitimate serial number for that particular media, version, language and platform (Win/Mac),
3. an older operating system that can support legacy Creative Suite.
--------------------------
NOTE 1: Creative Suite installers won't work on macOS Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave without terminal workarounds.

NOTE 2: Creative Suite won't run on Catalina which cannot support 32-bit apps.

NOTE 3: Adobe removed links to updaters.

NOTE 4: Creative Suite is discontinued and unsupported.  Use at your own risk.
