PDF format.aip: missing plugin using Creative Cloud

New Here ,
May 30, 2012 May 30, 2012

Hi,

I just purchased Adobe Creative Cloud and after saving a project on Adobe Illustrator CS6, I tried to open the program again and an error message is coming up, "Missing required plugins. PDF format.aip."

I checked the plugin folder and it is in there, yet I cannot open Illustrator.  The other Adobe programs work, it is just Illustrator.

Does anyone know how to fix this so I can open Illustrator and get to work.  Thanks so much!

Also, I have an iMac.  Thanks.

-Phil

This happens because of corrupted preferences of the application created on the first launch. Please use the Illustrator Uninstaller to uninstall the software and be sure to check the option to remove all preferences towards the end. Also remove any left behind files of Adobe Illustrator from /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS6 and then reinstall.

Anirudh

I had this happen because I moved the actual .app file instead of copying an alias/shortcut to a folder on my dock. I moved the .app back to the Illustrator folder and it fixed the problem. No need to unintsall and reinstall in my case.

I had the exact same thing happening to me with Illustrator and Photoshop, moved the .app files by mistake to some different folders and then when trying to open it I got the PDF Format.aip file missing error. I restarted it, didn't work, tried to replace the file with a fresh one, didn't work. In the end I moved the .app files back into their designated folder and both Photoshop and Illustrator opened straight away. No need to re-install them.
