Photoshop 5.0 won't install

New Here ,
Jul 07, 2014 Jul 07, 2014

Error message says "you can’t open the application “(null)” because it may be damaged or incomplete."

That's what happens when I hit install from the menu the disk gave me.

I also have the serial number

if that's ps cs5, re-install.

if that's really ps 5 it's probabaly too old to install on the os you're using unless the os is really old or you can use compatibility mode to mimic an old os.

Download and installation help for Adobe links

Download and installation help for Prodesigntools links are listed on most linked pages.  They are critical; especially steps 1, 2 and 3.  If you click a link that does not have those steps listed, open a second window using the Lightroom 3 link to see those 'Important Instructions'.

It is Photoshop 5.0 LE. And I have a 2012 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.2

If I need to change the compatibility, how do I do that?

Compatibility Modes are a PC feature so not available if you are using a Mac. Photoshop 5 LE is too old to work under OSX10.9. There is nothing you can do about.

there's either no way or no easy way to make that work.

you can check other users experiences with software and mac here, http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

but that ps version is so old there might not be anyone posting about it any more.

I suggest you buy photoshop elements 12, if you want something similar from adobe.

Picture editor, edit pictures | Adobe Photoshop Elements 12

Photoshop LE 5 was a PowerPC application requiring not only a PowerPC processor, but also an older pre os x mac operating system, i.e. mac os 9 and older.

Your mac has two strikes, that being it uses an intel processor and is os x, so photoshop le 5 will not work on your machine.

system requirements circa 2000
