I have uninstalled and installed a few time to correct the issue, but nothing has changed. Windows 7 64 bit. When I click on new or open, it loads several of the files, but then hangs a the Loading Importerquicktime.prm step of it, then resets itself back to the opening menu. I can get to the organizer without problems, but thats it. Let me know how I can try to fix this. Thanks

Hi,
Which antivirus, firewall do you have installed?
When the application hangs while loading Importerquicktime.prm, could you leave it in the same state for about 4-5 minutes and check if it loads successfully?
Also, incase you have Quicktime installed on your computer, please verify that you have the latest version.
Thanks

I have avg2012 free, standard windows firewall.
It starts on the 3 large button screen organize, new, open, click on new or open and it hangs at that point, but doesn't actually stop and freeze, it just doesn't go past that step in the initializing. It then goes back to the 3 large button screen. Organize opens, but the others wont
I had quicktime installed with latest version and same problem, but it is uninstalled at this point in time.
I have another laptop with same system, firewall, and virus, and it works fine there, other than i have no way to burn DVDs that I create, just installed it to test if it would work.
Please advise.

Hi,
Did you have any older version of Premiere Elements installed before Premiere elements 10? If yes, do you have any 3rd party plugins installed which were being used with the older version?
Thanks

I have the exact same problem installing on a new laptop running win 7-64 too. No error messages - it just stalls and returns to the start up menu after trying to load quicktime. The only adobe programs installed are photoshop elements 6 and reader 10.

Can you check if you have the latest version of Quicktime installed on your computer? (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/)

Yes - latest quicktime. I had to download it as I did not have it installed and did not realise I needed it until after I installed Premiere Elements. My thoughts are either Apple have done something different with quicktime that is causing the issue or perhaps I should have had quicktime installed prior to installing PE?

Please see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/858/cpsid_85843.html for minimum system requirements for installing Premiere Elements. You require QuickTime 7 software (or later) installed before you import QuickTime formats.

I have called adobe support and spent 3 hours on this so far and not resolution. Quicktime has been uninstalled and installed several times, along with elements 10. Same issue, I well exceed minimum requirements.

Yamahayz262 I am unsure what steps you have performed with our support team but I would recommend running through the steps listed in Troubleshoot system errors and freezes | Adobe software on Windows. There are several steps listed which will help narrow down the issue to either a user account, conflicting application, or other system configuration issues.
Please feel free to respond to this thread if you have any questions regarding the steps listed within the document.

I have also spent several hours on this.
It is a brand new computer this is going on - exceeds all requirements by a long way.
I have installed and verified latest version Quicktime.
Created new administrator account just for Premiere elements.
Turned everything off - all non-essential processes and all anti-virus/security processes.
Re-installed software.
Does exactly the same thing - hangs on loading quicktime and returns to menu page after a minute.
Thankfully software bought from Amazon UK so I can reject it under the not fit for purpose UK distance selling regulations.
It is on its way back now and suitable feedback will appear on Amazon against software.
When will large software companies realise that these sorts of issues are unacceptable? If you can not produce a stable reliable product - do not release it and expect consumers to accept it.
Last Adobe product I will be buying - fed up with the instability and issues they cause on windows systems.
Amazon 1 - Adobe 0 (great customer service from amazon as always)

We finally got it to work, after installing, uninstalling, moving stuff around, etc. It seemed to be that the display driver needed a different version or model. So one we change the display driver it comes up, but gives a couple of simple warnings about the driver not being from 2011 or laters since the software is or something of that nature. Anyhow it is working, but took 4.5 hours of total time from adobe support on the phone. Very nice people, just frustrated that a product takes this kind of effort.
