Re: Can't Update Creative Cloud, but can't uninstall it..Please help!

I am having the same problem as KassandraLee.

The CC desktop app says that it has to be updated, but always fails. So I tried to uninstall but it said I had to uninstall CC apps first (Premiere Pro in my case). So I tried to uninstall Premiere Pro and it just opens up the CC desktop app that says it needs to be updated. Endless loop!

The instructions that were provided as an answer do not work as they even mention "The Creative Cloud desktop app can only be uninstalled if all Creative Cloud applications (such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) have already been uninstalled from the system."

Is there a way that I can uninstall Premiere Pro without using the CC desktop app? So that I can then uninstall/reinstall the CC desktop app and see if that solves my problem?

Thanks,

Amanda

Thank-you, I have found a somewhat workaround solution.

I followed the link that you provided which in the instructions for "Run the CC Cleaner Tool for Mac OS" still says to uninstall Creative Cloud as one of the first steps (which as I mentioned is a big part of what the problem is anyways). I decided to download and try running the cleaner tool anyways and it seemed to have worked properly without me having first uninstalled CC.

Yes, you can download & use the Adobe Cleaner Tool – then reboot your system and try again:

Thank-you, I have found a somewhat workaround solution.

I followed the link that you provided which in the instructions for "Run the CC Cleaner Tool for Mac OS" still says to uninstall Creative Cloud as one of the first steps (which as I mentioned is a big part of what the problem is anyways). I decided to download and try running the cleaner tool anyways and it seemed to have worked properly without me having first uninstalled CC.

I then tried to reinstall Creative Cloud again and was met with the same errors (Error 201). Through looking at forums I was able to find this link: Download Creative Cloud desktop app  which allowed me to download "Creative Cloud Desktop App (Mac)" successfully. And then I was able to successfully download and install Premiere Pro from the CC app.

This solution has worked fine for me now but I fear that once the CC app requires an update that I will be in the same dilemma if I need to change any other apps. It appears to be a network error when downloading from Adobe but my computer does not have a firewall or anything that should prevent communication.

Thanks again!

I had to do 3 of the 4 suggested solutions to update when the lightroom mobile would no longer sync to my LR Classic.  I had to uninstall ALL CC apps, Run the cleaner tool, restart. Delete the opm.db file, restart.  Then re-download the CC desktop app.  Then finally the 2 updates were available.
