I have Photoshop CS5 Extended for MAC.  I get update alerts but the process fails and I get this message "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."

CS5 is quite old and the Updater does not run correctly.

Go to Product updates download and install the updates from there.

Also note, CS5 is before Gatekeeper in Mac. Just so you do not need to turn it off, Ctrl-click on the Installer and choose Open. You will get a warning about it being unsigned, but you will have the Open button to run it.

get this error msg.   “AdobePatchInstaller” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should eject the disk image.

What file did you download?
