Upgrading OS on iMac. What will CS5 do?

New Here ,
Aug 20, 2014 Aug 20, 2014

I am running Lion on my iMac with CS5.  I am going to upgrade to the latest operating system.  Will CS5 have issues?  Do I need to upgrade to CS6 as well?

Cheers,

Katheryne

Hi katheryne,

As per the system requirements latest version supported with CS 5 is Mac OS X v10.6.3

for more info check Adobe - Creative Suite 5 Master Collection : System requirements

If you are upgrading to the latest OS you would also have to upgrade your Software.

Kindly check the link for more info on system requirements and compatibility.

But will cs5 be able to run on the new release of Mac OS X Yosemite?  I am seeing indications all over the internet and in this forum that it will not.  I spent hundreds of dollars investing in CS5 and now it will not work when I update my operating system? You have got to be kidding me! I spent months saving up just for the education edition.  Now adobe wants me to spend $400 a year on the cloud version?  I am not a business nor do I make money with these software products.

Hi Katheryne,

I certainly understand your concern, However, I would like to bring a couple if things to your kind notice.

Yosemite has not been officially launched by apple, it is a beta version.

Latest version of Mac supported by adobe is "Mac Os 10.9.4" and we are still testing our products on Mac OS 10.10(Yosemite)

As of now CS 5 is end of life for testing on latest version OS.

However, you can still try to load CS 5 on Yosemite, if that works, it would be an unexpected behavior.

Unfortunately we would not be able to provide support for Os X Yosemite(10.10) unless it is officially launched.

For more info please refer  : Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) compatibility | Creative Cloud

Thanks,

Atul Saini

Thanks for clarifying. Only... There was no warning that this was a Beta version! Now I can't run PS CS5.
