I uninstalled DC per online instructions and have tried to install Pro10 using AcrobatPro_10_Web_WWEFD.exe along with my 24-digit serial number. It goes through all the motions but ends up by saying that install has been interrupted, and to try again later.

Run Acrobat Cleaner tool and check if there are any remnants left after uninstalling Acrobat DC .
Then try to install Pro version again :
Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

The cleaner tool only applies if Acrobat only is installed. In my case I had the entire DC suite of programs and so far I have uninstalled Acrobat DC only. The other creative suite programs like Photoshop are still there. Is there a way to uninstall all the others or should I try doing one by one?

No need to uninstall other apps.
Did Acrobat Cleaner tool detected any remnants? Even after uninstalling , some of the registry entries or its associated files remains on computers as left overs, we needed to make sure they are not present by running Acrobat Cleaner tool.
