Why I have to register again LR 5.5?

Hi!

A couple days ago my pc didn´t do as I wanted to and LR 5.5 didn´t closed properly. When I tried to open it again it asked me to register LR again.

I found the two files lrcat.lock and lrcat-journal which I deleted. But that didn´t help.

Then I uppgraded from 5.5 to 5.7.1 but the same problem still remains.

What will happen if I register again? I mean, the software IS registred. It maybe creates trouble if I do same thing twice? Does it?

What else can I do?

/Katja

Hi katjah95353514‌,

Greetings!!!

Registration is different from licensing.

Registration means that you are proving the information of you r product to Adobe, so that in future if you face any issues , we can find the registered product and can help accordingly.

If you have already registered that, then there is no need to repeat it.

Regards

Jitendra

My problem is that there is a need appearently. I can´t open LR. The only thing LR wants to when I try to start it is a new registration.

What do I have to do to open the software WITHOUT registering again?

It would be nice if you had an answer. Otherwise it´s no help for anybody.

Please, how do I know if there is en registering or not and what happens if I do it twice?

Nothing wrong will happen if you do that twice.

So you can surely go ahead and register that.

Also there is internal tool where we can find the registered products.

Also I believe that once you will register your product you will receive an email.

You should show a screenshot of the message you receive.  You can only register an Adobe product once.  If it is asking you to register again that will not be able to happen.  If it is asking you to activate it again then that is a different story.

It looks like this. If I continue, my license number is already there. But I doubt if I should go further and fullfill the third step. I mean, I have worked with this Lightroom version a while.

Your registrations are listed at www.adobe.com / Manage account / Plans and Products - View All / Products - View your products

Registering again won't hurt anything.

Cleaning up after a sudden shutdown of LR, involves deleting the .lock file, but you probably should have left the .journal file alone, because that's where transactions are staged before going to the database file.  As such you might be missing the last few edits you did in LR.

Please read my first post. I did delete both the lrcat.lock-file and the journalfile.

I did read your first post.  That's why I am giving advice to not delete the .journal file in the future because you might lose some of your most recent LR edits, and it would be wise to check what you did most recently to see if you need to redo anything.  Deleting the journal file won't have anything to do with LR registrations, though, as that is somewhere else on the computer.
