Why no option to save installer to disk?

Some of us with work/home machine setups may have fast internet connection at work, less so at home. It can be extremely frustrating to go through the whole download process once more, when you could have just copied the installer to a portable drive and taken that home.

I have a single app subscription for just Photoshop, which downloaded and installed in about 40 minutes at work. No big deal.

At home, where I have no other option than CDMA mobile broadband, the download took 4 hours. Just Photoshop. A full download of the whole thing would be unthinkable. It would have taken several days (during which time no internet connection for anything else).

Any plans to make this a little easier?

Hi twenty_one,

You can try downloading Photoshop Installer from the direct download links available at : http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html

But make sure you follow the important steps mentioned on the page before initiating the download.

You can save the installer files to a disk and install it on the home computer. You can use your Adobe ID to license the software and it will recognise your subscription via your Adobe ID.

Yes, I did that later when I found out about it (because I always insist on having a backup installer handy in case I have to reinstall) - but it's not exactly obvious, is it?

I find it very strange that I have to go to a third-party site for this.

i have a solution for mac osx: when you download a new program from the cc-menu, make sure you have an adobe application open. start downloading an app. when it´s downloaded (at 50% all file downloads are finished) the installer can´t complete the process. when the dialog box saying you need to close program x pops up, don´t close that program! look on your main drive in the folder /var/tmp. if you don´t see the var-folder, google how to enable seeing hidden files. go through the subfolders of the tmp-directory. here you will find a dmg-file with the installer. copy the file to another place, because once you continue the installation process, the cc app will delete every installation file from the tmp-folder. you can use that dmg file for later installations.
hope it helps! if you´re on windows - there might be a similar way to do this. google will often help you more than adobe :-).

@Adobe: let the users choose if they want to keep their installation files! not everyone always has a fast and stable internet connection.
