Why wont it let me download photoshop on my macbook?

ive tried to download the free trial of photoshop on my macbook but it wont let me and it is saying 'You are running an operating system that Photoshop no longer supports. Refer to the system requirements for a full list of supported platforms.' how can i fix this???
